A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL
6 AM CST THURSDAY.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS...MODERATE TO OCCASIONAL HEAVY SNOW WILL
CONTINUE THROUGH MID EVENING ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI.
SNOWFALL RATES OF AROUND AN INCH PER HOUR WITH VISIBILITIES DOWN
TO A QUARTER MILE ARE EXPECTED BENEATH BANDS OF HEAVIER SNOW.
THE HEAVIER SNOW WILL THEN TAPER OFF TO LIGHT SNOW LATE THIS
EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS BEFORE ENDING LATE TONIGHT.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF A LINE
FROM KIMBERLING CITY...TO MARSHFIELD TO SALEM UNTIL EARLY
THURSDAY MORNING.
* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...STORM TOTAL AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 6
INCHES ARE EXPECTED. LOCALIZE AMOUNTS UP TO 7 INCHES ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS FAR SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI.
* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...BRISK NORTH WINDS...COMBINED WITH
MODERATE TO AT TIMES HEAVY SNOW...WILL LIKELY RESULT IN
VISIBILITY DOWN TO A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.
* IMPACTS...SNOW ON TOP OF THE SLEET THAT FELL EARLY WEDNESDAY
WILL LIKELY RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE TRAVEL IMPACTS ACROSS THE
AREA INTO THURSDAY MORNING. THE MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION CONTINUES TO INDICATE THAT ROADS ARE SNOW COVERED
AND HAZARDOUS...ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE HIGHWAY 60 CORRIDOR.
