County,
Special Weather Statement issued January 16 at 1:55PM CST by NWS
Effective: 1:55 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015
Expires: 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015

...QUICK FIRE GROWTH POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON...
DRY WEATHER COMBINED WITH CURED SURFACE FUELS AND BREEZY CONDITIONS
WILL ALLOW FOR AN ENHANCED THREAT FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH THIS
AFTERNOON. ONLINE SCANNER REPORTS INDICATE NUMEROUS GRASS FIRES ACROSS
THE IMMEDIATE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA...WHILE SEVERAL DERIVED BURN
LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN DETECTED ON SATELLITE IMAGERY. ALL WITH OUTSIDE BURNING
INTEREST SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR QUICK FIRE GROWTH WHILE TAKING MEASURES
TO ENSURE ANY CONTROLLED BURNS DO NOT QUICKLY BECOME OUT OF CONTROL.
BY EARLY EVENING...WEAKER WINDS COMBINED WITH AN INCREASE IN RELATIVE
HUMIDITY WILL LESSEN THE THREAT FOR QUICK FIRE GROWTH AND SPREAD.
