As a former PTA President and the parent of a teenager I am compelled to agree with the teens at Mill Valley High School. It is quite possible to have an “adult only event” without alcohol. Serving it at a PTA sponsored function is not only inappropriate but it also sends the wrong message to students of all ages. These teens should be commended for having the guts to stand up for what they believe in — even thought is apparently an unpopular stance with some adult members of the PTA. There is a time and a place for everything and a PTA function is neither the time, nor the place, for serving alcohol.
