Shawnee Rotary Bike Safety Rodeo

Another example of authentic community stewardship: Shawnee Rotary and the City of Shawnee (Kansas) are sponsoring the rain-or-shine event, which provides safety training for children who plan to ride their bikes to school. Posted via The De Soto Explore Blog @ http://bit.ly/pMgikt

Society trying to place signage at historic site

As both a VFW Post 6654 Trustee & Watershed Marshal since 2008, I've been advocating that our USD 232 communities need to help preserve a shared sense of imagination and place! Since mid-2004, I've learned how persistent Monticello Community Historical Society has been as stewards of our Monticello Ghost Township's vanishing "social capital" ...

Naismith among 8 Wonders of Kansas People

As a De Soto Explorer blogger, I also serve as VFW Post 6654 Watershed Marshal.
I was surprised this Shawnee-Dispatch/USD232 story wasn't also published here ...

>>Seventh-grade students at Mill Creek Middle School play a game of basketball according to the rules written by James Naismith in the 1890s. The activity was part of a two-day lesson created by the school's learning coach, Leah Vomhof, on analyzing primary sources. <<

Monticello District 33 Virginia School

Retired De Soto High School Earth Science teacher Darrell Zimmerman became my F1RST (K-10) Smart Corridor model for honoring "social responsibility" pathfinders ...

While I was Monticello Township's "Clear Creek Watershed" marshal (2004-06), Darrell was my BIOgeography mentor & tutor when I GPSurveyed locations of all "California Road" crossing signs placed by the Kansas City Area Historical Trails Association (KCAHTA).

With his Kansas Rural Center (KRC) advocacy, Darrell inspired ongoing freedom of influence (FIFTH Freedom) "Eco-History Mysteries" memetics research.
