The De Soto Methodist church led the community worship service at Riverfest Park on Sunday as part of De Soto Days. The Stranger Creek band played several hymns and Pastor Jan delivered the sermon while Pastor Matt from the De Soto Community Church led the children's service.
The De Soto Baptist church voted to build an addition onto the building, a project that is much needed. Already there are pledges of more than $46,000, a great testimony of God's promise. We pray that current and former members of the church will all help contribute to this great cause.
The holiday weekend was so very busy. The De Soto Days festival and parade took place all weekend long and the parade was wonderful. I got to ride in a pick-up truck and see lots of familiar faces along the new route.
Saturday afternoon Jerry, Linda and I went to our annual family reunion down by Joplin, Mo. We were very excited about the lovely, cool weather. While we were down there we took a tour of the damage from the tornado that hit Joplin in May, we drove for blocks and blocks and couldn't get past the damage. I was very tired by the time we made it home Saturday night.
