The De Soto High School volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory over Louisburg at home Tuesday night, going 3-2 with the visiting Wildcats.

The match started very well for DHS when they quickly won the first match 25-10. De Soto struggled to keep the momentum going into the second match though and gave up too many blocks at the net and lost 25-19. The girls rallied in the third match and improved blocking to win 25-18. The fourth match was another struggle as errors showed again on the De Soto side of the net and Louisburg won 25-17. Everything was on the line when the fifth game began and both teams fought hard to win the tie. The score went back and forth with neither team pulling ahead by more than one point for most of the match. The 15-point end mark came and went as neither team could pull ahead by the required two until Louisburg couldn't catch a ball on the edge of the court and De Soto won 19-17.

The De Soto High School soccer team also won Tuesday night, beating Paola 1-0 in overtime.

Head coach Darren Erpelding described the game as a "very physical" match-up in his online game notes. As Paola put the pressure on De Soto, the Wildcats responded the same but senior John Williams responded too much and was given a "deserved red card" in the second half, according to Erpelding. The Wildcats' win came off a header by senior Alejandro Lopez.
