Wes Rains led worship at the De Soto Methodist church on Sunday while Audrey and Doug Tiedeman were greeters. Maddy and Tammy Mikinski were ushers. Their Fall Festival, which took place on Oct. 1, went well. Now they ask everyone to mark their calendars for their Election Night Dinner on Nov. 8. They will also be having a Bingo Night on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The church will be hosting a wedding this coming weekend and celebrated a baptism this past Sunday. Micaylah Miller, daughter of Kelli Ellen Berger and Micah Miller was baptized.
The De Soto Baptist church will have a baptism on Nov. 13 for any who wish to be baptized. The ABW will be having their annual baked potato and craft auction on Nov. 6. Half of the procedes go to the church expansion fund and the other half to mission projects. The ABW is also selling tickets for a chance at a beautiful quilt, they are one dollar each or six for five dollars. The Willow Springs FCE will meet this Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Baptist church.The church will also be having a building celebration and ground breaking ceremony, along with a potluck dinner on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Those celebrating anniversaries are: Larry and Cheryl Towner; James and Holly Balch and Archie and Sally Bedford, who will be having a reception on Saturday, Oct. 22 in honor of their 60-year marriage.
The needs at the community food pantry are: Tuna and Hamburger Helper; canned soup; paper goods and baby diapers.
Those on the prayer list are many. My great-grandson, Hayden Chandler, has to see a specialist this week to schedule surgery on his elbow, he has some damaged ligaments. Rita Ellis has a brain tumor. Shirley Brunner was missed at worship on Sunday. Pat Weese was finally able to return to church and we were happy to see him. Lorene Hayden is in the Good Samaritan Home and Randall Basset, Bill Lafferty and Vonne Steele are all at Hillside Village, as is Bessie Weese but she's on the assisted living side. Mary McDonald is at Lakeside Village. Sympathy goes to the family of Paula Jones for the sudden passing of her niece's husband.
