Frank Denning named Sheriff of the Year

The Kansas Sheriff's Association named Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning Sheriff of the Year for 2011 during a ceremony last Thursday, Nov. 10.

Denning, who has been sheriff since 2004, was honored for his proactive attitude towards improving the criminal justice system, according to a press release regarding the award.

“During his time as Sheriff, Frank has selflessly served the interests of Sheriffs across the State of Kansas and continues to be an innovative and proactive leader for the criminal justice system,” said President of the Kansas Sheriff's Association and Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton in the release.

Denning shares the Sheriff of the Year award for 2011 with Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy.
