This Sunday, July 17, the Methodist church will be going to the Grand Avenue Temple in downtown Kansas City to help. They are still in need of volunteers and donations of food and athletic shoes. Call Linda Rumsey at (913) 441-6064 if you can help.

Every member of the adult Sunday School class at the De Soto Baptist church was present on Sunday except for my daughter Debbie. She was in Topeka at her grandson Hayden's baseball tournament. There was a newly married couple in attendance on Sunday. Rev. Copeland introduced Kathy and John Hollschuh to the congregation.

Hayden's summer league baseball team won first place in their tournament this weekend. Each player got a medal and I've displayed Hayden's here at home. My grandson in Texas is going to college to work on his music degree and my great-granddaughter has to have surgery this week.

Those celebrating birthdays this week are: Carson Patterson; Alyce King; Monica Walker; Riley McDaniel; Allen Stone; Hank Kramer; Rick Miller; Beverly Willis; Katharine Ingalls; Paul Chandler, my son-in-law, and my grandson Alan Nalley.

Those celebrating anniversaries are: Rick and Susan Lewis; my grandchildren Marty and Rhonda Nalley and Brad and Shelly Nalley and my dear friends Bob and Betty Bonebrake.

Those on the sick list are many. In particular Don Gribbens' son Michael needs prayers as he recovers from a spider bite.
