I'm enjoying a long weekend with my son and his family from Illinois. They've been here since Saturday and will go home today. Carlin and Nancy came in with Debbie and Hayden as they returned home from a baseball tournament. I put everyone to work. Nancy cleaned closets for me and helped me change my decorations from the Fourth to my fall stuff. It's been a great visit.
Clausie Smith filled the pulpit at the Baptist church on Sunday as Rev. Copeland was on vacation. We were very fortunate to have Clausie here, he is so busy as the mayor of Bonner Springs. We were also very fortunate to hear a solo by Lucas Walker, he did such a great job.
I received a telephone call on Sunday from my sister-in-law, Emmaline Freeman, who live sin Missouri now. Even she was complaining about how hot it has been! I also got a phone call from my son Michael and one from Edwin and Jeanne.
I've been enjoying lots of tomatoes from my garden, they're delicious! My former neighbors put in the garden for me and I've been so grateful. They even brought me some delicious salmon cakes recently too. We also had a roofer come to look over the shingles and the mess of a chimney we have now. My car is also acting up again. My son-in-law and grandson better get busy fixing that because it's been the in the shop more than a month already!
De Soto Days are coming up. The community worship service will be that Sunday, Sept. 4 in Riverfest Park and the parade will be Saturday, Sept. 3.
