Excessive heat warning in effect until 10 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Johnson County until 10 p.m. tonight. The previous heat advisory has been lifted for the area. An excessive heat warning differs from a heat advisory in that excessive heat warnings are for greater temperatures than heat advisories.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s by early afternoon, with heat indexes between 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit. The NWS encourages people to stay inside when possible and to drink plenty of fluids. Children and the elderly should be monitored closely.
