De Soto High School senior Olivea Guzicki holds Bones the Prairie King Snake in her hand as she explains the life expectancy and habits of the species during the De Soto High School science fair on Wednesday, April 27. Guzicki, who moved to De Soto from Reno, Nev. at the beginning of the year, said her main goal in the Kansas Natural History course at DHS was to get over her fear of snakes. "I'm definitely a big-city girl so when I walked in this class and saw a snake I flipped out," she said. "I've gotten a lot better and now I think Bones is pretty cute."
