Thanksgiving boxes filled by community groups
Members of the De Soto Methodist church and the Pioneer 4-H group gathered on Wednesday, Nov. 17, to fill boxes with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. The boxes will be handed out to the 123 families in need in the area who signed-up earlier this month. In years past, the project was handled by the De Soto Multi-Service Center, but budget constraints this year made it impossible for the center to continue this service. The De Soto Methodist church volunteered to take over gathering the supplies and getting the boxes filled. More than 30 community organizations, businesses and individuals assisted with the project. The filled boxes will be passed out on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m.-noon, and on Monday, Nov. 22, from 1-4 p.m.
