Eagle Day: Moose makes an impression January 22, 2008
Moose, a female bald eagle captured in Yellowstone National Park in 1994, was the star of the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Eagle Day demonstrations Saturday. Moose, who weighs 17 pounds, was picked up after she had eaten a poisoned gopher. She broke her wing and shoulder and although the injuries have healed she can't extend her wings fully and thus flies in circles.
Operation Wildlife volunteer Bill Whinery shows Alexander Flak and Grace Cresswell just how heavy an eagle is, with the aid of a 10-pound and a 15-pound weight.
