The 1972 fire engine was purchased by the old De Soto fire department in 1988 and was kept in operation until the mid-2000s. The truck was donated to the Guardians of the Ribbon cancer awareness organization to be used in their Pink Heels campaign, in which pink fire engines are taken to events to raise cancer awareness. "Lots of guys have lots of memories in this old truck," said former fire chief Terry Zahner. "We're just so thrilled to see her go to a group that's going to do such awesome things with her."
