The De Soto Rotary Club is again selling sunflowers as a fundraiser for polio prevention. The flowers are being grown at Zimmerman's Kill Creek Farm and cost $1 per stalk or a dozen for $10. Stalks are ready to be harvested when the petals are completely vertical, forming a cup-like shape. The bloom pictured is ready to be cut. Blossoms harvested when the petals are fully open will not last long, the petals will start to fall off in a day or two.
