Maxine Jane Elschlager 1921 - 2009

LANCASTER, Mo. — Services for Maxine Jane Elschlager, 87, Queen City, were Monday at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial was in Arni Memorial Cemetery, Lancaster.
Mrs. Elschlager died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City.
She was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Orville Newton and Geneva Clare Preston Baker. She graduated from high school in Overbrook, Kan., and attended business college in Topeka, Kan.
She worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant at De Soto, Kan., during World War II. She had also worked for the county clerk for Schuyler County for several years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, and was a longtime organist there.
She married Paul David Elschlager on March 9, 1946, in Overbrook. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2005.
A son, Larry Elschlager, also preceded her in death, in 1965.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Elschlager and wife Susan, and Stanley Elschlager and wife Lori, all of Kirksville; five grandchildren, Amy, Nick, Rian and Lathen Elschlager and Eren Davis; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Brady Davis; two sisters, Jean Hodson and husband Bill, of Kansas, and Shirley Johnson and husband Rex, Clinton, Kan.; a brother, Creed Baker and wife Sarah, Kansas City, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
