Elizabeth Joan Fetters 1930 - 2009

Memorial services for Elizabeth Joan Fetters, 78, of Bartlesville, Okla, were Wednesday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial followed in De Soto Cemetery. Mrs. Fetters died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at the Continuous Care Center of Bartlesville.
She was born May 6, 1930, in Kansas City, Kan., to Guy and Edna Staggs and grew up in the De Soto area and graduated from De Soto High School in 1948. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute for two years. Later she worked restoring portraits and hand coloring photographs. Mrs. Fetters worked for Phillips Oil Co. for more than 30 years in the credit department, having been relocated to Oklahoma in 1970. She retired in 1986. She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church of Bartlesville. She was very interested in early American history and loved collecting ships and other nautical memorabilia. She was an excellent seamstress sewing clothing for her family and even making Civil War period clothing by hand.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Anita Sue Magana in 2000 and one step-son Daniel Fetters in 1976. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Carl Fetters of the home; a daughter Pandora Kuhnlein and husband, Jim, Kansas City, Mo.,; two sisters, Deborah Estey and husband, Mike, Rolla, Mo., and Colleen Talley ,Topeka.
