William A. Barth 1913 - 2008 Lenexa

Services for William A. “Bill” Barth, 95, of Lenexa, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Monticello United Methodist Church.
Mr. Barth died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Sweet Life at Rosehill Nursing Home in Shawnee.
He was born June 25, 1913, in Scio, Ore., and came to this area when he was 3 years old.
Mr. Barth was a carpenter through out most of his life and had also worked at many other jobs, building houses, owning a plumbing business, selling Real Estate, a stint as a cowboy, selling insurance, and working as a machinist and as a farmer.
He was involved in many civic groups, including De Soto School Board, Monticello Zoning Board, Rural Water District No. 1 Board, Monticello Cemetery Association, Monticello Historical Society and Monticello United Methodist Church.
His wife of 70 years, Dorothy Mae (Caldwell) Barth, died in August.
Survivors include five daughters, Judy Blamberg, Overland Park, Sylvia Courter, Woodland Park, Colo., Pat Benn Lenexa, Mary Canny, Johnson, Kan., and Willy Snow, Eudora; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Monticello United Methodist Church.
