Esther E. Ellis 1915 - 2008

Memorial services for Esther E. Ellis will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the chapel.
Mrs. Ellis died Feb. 6 at Olathe Medical Center. She was 92.
She was born May 6, 1915, in Gardner, the daughter of Clarence B. Alvin and Harriet Josesa Osborne Hale. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the De Soto United Methodist Church. Since 1946, she was a member of the De Soto chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a worthy matron from 1949-1950. She worked several years at Kobler's Drug Store and was postal clerk at the De Soto Post Office from 1965 to her retirement in 1977. She served on the Gardner Community Medical Center for 25 years and was the board's secretary for 15 years.
Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ellis. Survivors include a son Gary Ellis of Eudora, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
