Donald L. Frickey 1928 - 2008 De Soto

Memorial services for Donald L. Frickey, 80, of De Soto will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto, 32665 Lexington Ave. The family will receive visitors from 9 to 10 a.m.
Mr. Frickey died Aug. 18, 2008, in his home.
He was born March 10, 1928, in Topeka to Edward and Nancy Frickey. He was a math teacher and coach at Mayetta, Oskaloosa and then De Soto High School the last 28 years before his retirement. He started De Soto High School's first girls tennis team and also coached golf, basketball and football. He managed the De Soto swimming pool for 20 years. After retiring from teaching, Mr. Frickey worked for the Overland Park Golf Course and helped develop Oak Country Golf Course in De Soto.
Mr. Frickey was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Trish Frickey Schendel; and brother Edward Frickey; and sister Phillis Smith He is survived by two sons, Mike Frickey, Kansas City, Kan., and Jim Frickey, De Soto; a daughter, Nancy Linbloom, De Soto; and three grandchildren.
