Marjorie Lee Lynn 1921 - 2008 De Soto
A memorial service for Marjorie "Margie" Lee Lynn, 86, was Monday at the Monticello United Methodist Church in Shawnee. Burial in the old Monticello Cemetery followed.
Marjorie died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Hillside Village Nursing Home in De Soto.
Marjorie was born July 14, 1921, to Virgil and Frances West in St. Joseph, Mo. She attended school at Shawnee Mission and met her future husband Elden Stuart Lynn while working on a school play. They married Dec. 28, 1940, in Butler, Mo. The couple moved to Monticello Township in December 1947.
Marjorie was a 60-year member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and for many years worked on the election board.
Later in life, she spent her free time bowling, crocheting, painting crafts, fishing, playing cards and dominoes with friends, tending to the garden with Elden, and riding around in their golf cart to deliver vegetables and homemade wine to neighbors, friends, and strangers.
She is survived by her husband, Elden; a brother, Bob West; two sons, Denny and his wife, Marilyn Lynn, Eudora, and Chuck and his wife, Melissa Lynn, Lawrence; a daughter, Frances and her husband, John Duckworth, Shawnee, seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Virgil and John West.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home of Bonner Springs was in charge of arrangements.
