Mary Lou Simmons 1932 - 2007
Services for Mary Lou Simmons, 75, De Soto, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at De Soto Baptist Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at East Lawn Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
Mrs. Simmons died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of John Thomas and Sara Frances Melton Swearengin. She attended KC Business College and moved to De Soto in 1952.
Mrs. Simmons was an accountant/bookkeeper for WP Stark Lumber in Olathe for 34 years. She was most recently an activity leader for the assisted living organization at Hillside Village of De Soto.
She was active in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for all levels, a deaconess and she was a choir member. She was also a member of the American Baptist Women.
She married Kenneth R. Simmons on June 21, 1951, in Springfield. He died in 2002.
Survivors include two sisters, Gladys Danelenko, Bakersfield, Calif., and Anna Lo Lathem, Springfield, Mo.
Three brothers, Dories "Jack" Swearengin, Charles William Swearengin, and John Robert Swearengin; and two sisters, Rosalie Dorothy Harris and Mildred Pauline West, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from noon Saturday until the service.
