The De Soto United Methodist Church is having a Thanksgiving luncheon next Sunday Nov. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church youth is putting on the luncheon as a thank you for the support that has been given to them this past year. They are asking you to sign up on the list on the youth bulletin board.

The De Soto United Methodist Church will have an all-church conference at 7 p.m. Thursday at its Fellowship Hall. The church will also have Bishop’s Roundup for Hunger from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. This is a Lawrence area project.

The De Soto United Methodist Church Youth are had a clothing donation drive Wednesday for the annual Bishop Roundup for Hunger. They asked for gently used and clean clothing and also bedding. The youngsters will sort and box the items for donation Nov. 14.
With grandkids gone, it’s back to dieting

The house is quiet again. The grandchildren, and their parents, left a week ago. The house was a flurry of activity during their visit, timed each year to coincide with our granddaughter’s birthday.

The De Soto United Methodist Church had a reception for its pastor, The Rev. Jerry Vaughn, and his wife, Jan, Sunday for Pastor Recognition Month. The congregation also had a Halloween Party for the Sunday school children, at which treats and gifts were handed out.

Joy was spread at Sunday at the De Soto United Methodist Church as Lisa and Todd Carpenter announced the birth of a boy, Carson William Carpenter. He weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
