Lexington Trails receives Governor’s Achievement Award
Lexington Trails Middle School in De Soto has been honored with a Governor’s Achievement Award, the Kansas State Department of Education announced earlier this month. The award recognizes top performing schools in the state.
To receive the award, schools must have achieved the Standard of Excellence in both reading and math for the 2011 testing year. Additionally, schools must have made building-wide adequate yearly progress in both reading and math, as well as one additional measure. For elementary schools and middle/junior high schools, that additional AYP measure is attendance. For high schools, the measure is graduation rate.
Schools must have scored among the top 5 percent of schools in both reading and math on the 2011 state assessments, as well.
Lexington Trails joins 43 elementary schools, 11 middle/junior high schools and 18 high schools across the state of Kansas that also earned the Governor’s Achievement Award.
