Water boil advisory lifted
A boil water advisory that was issued on July 1 for the WaterOne service area, which included Shawnee and much of Johnson County, has been lifted.
The boil water advisory was issued Friday as a result of a main break earlier in the day. WaterOne officials said the boil advisory was issued as a precautionary measure to ensure that contamination had not occurred when water pressures reached zero throughout a widespread area.
The safety and quality of the water supply is our top priority at WaterOne and the boil advisory can now be lifted after all tests confirmed that no contamination occurred, said officials with the utility, which serves more than 400,000 customers in Johnson County.
WaterOne said it apologized "for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate incident."
