Group offers taste of sailing

Sailors and sailing enthusiasts can join the Johnson County Sailing Society for a special event May 22 at Shawnee Mission Park Lake, 7900 Renner Road.
The free, one-hour “Come Sail With Us” event will begin at noon at the Shawnee Mission Park Marina on the north side of the lake. Participants should bring a sack lunch and dine with Sailing Society members. After lunch, there will be an opportunity to sail a variety of vessels while participating in water activities like mock races or a sailing scavenger hunt.
The society will conduct another “Come Sail With Us” event on July 31.
