Informational meeting offered on new council
An informational meeting for the De Soto USD 232 Special Education Parent Advisory Council is scheduled for Jan. 12.
The council will serve many purposes including providing information to parents about programs and services available, as well as allowing members to be liaisons for other parents.
The council will have two parent representatives from each school, including Countryside Learning Center, as well as, teachers and integration supervisors.
The parents will represent families from many disability areas, said Joan Robbins, director of special services.
“I want to the council to be formed where there is a representative of children with and without disabilities and those who are gifted,” she said.
An informational meeting about the council will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the district’s administrative building, 35200 W. 91st St.
