Earth Day garage sale at Starside starts Wednesday

April 20, 2010

It’s once again time to support Starside Elementary School as it recycles your stuff to raise money.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the school will have its annual Earth Day Garage Sale

Items like toys, games, gadgets, books, stuffed animals and trading cards will be sold for $.25 to $5.

School officials said they don’t want this to be a place for people to dispose of their old items, but they want items that children will want to spend their money on.

Last year the school was able to raise $1,600.

All of the money raised will once again go to the school’s yearly pond maintenance, to buy fish and support the community garden.

There will also be a bake sale in conjunction with the garage sale.

Sweet or salty treats can be brought from home and sold for around $.50 an item.

School officials said students can bring the treats from home in any container because the food items will be put on trays and the containers returned to the students.

Larger items such as furniture, art or coupons will be in a silent auction for teachers and staff.
