USD 232 closes gap on superintendent search
De Soto USD 232 is one step closer to picking a new superintendent.
The district's board of education held interviews on April 13, 14 and 15 with applicants.
On Saturday, April 17, the board is expected to hold call-backs for two applicants.
The district is expected to make an announcement on the hiring of a superintendent in the next several weeks.
Alvie Cater, director of communications, said the announcement could come as early as the week of April 19 or the following week.
The board plans for whoever is selected to work as superintendent-elect, beside Ron Wimmer, USD 232 interim superintendent, for the 2010-11 school year. Wimmer replaced Sharon Zoellner, who resigned in spring 2009 to become superintendent of the Louisburg USD 416.
During the interview process, the board took into consideration the more than 300 responses to an online patron survey asking for input on a new leader.
Among the responses, patrons felt a superintendent needed prior experience as a teacher and administrator, the ability to listen and communicate with teachers, students, parents and patrons, as well as, being a visionary and innovative leader.
