Homecoming festivities await DHS students
Homecoming festivities kick-off for De Soto High School students next Monday with the beginning of sprit week.
Students are encouraged to dress-up each day to show school sprit.
Monday morning students can literally roll out of bed for pajama day. Tuesday students are encouraged to dress as twins. Wednesday could be full of Mickey Mouse as Disney character day. Thursday is gender bender day, while things wrap-up Friday with spirit day, where students are asked to wear their class shirts.
The annual homecoming parade takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday a6:30 p.m. at 83rd and Delaware. The route travels through downtown to the high school. The parade will consist of the band, sports team floats and the homecoming royalty.
The Spirit Rally will immediately follow the conclusion of the parade.
Coaches, teams and homecoming Royalty will be introduced after De Soto Mayor Dave Anderson and interim Superintendent Ron Wimmer welcome the crowd. After the introductions, there will be a lighting of the “Victory V.”
Their will be a pre-game pep rally at 2:15 p.m. Friday.
During halftime of the Friday’s football game the 2009 DHS Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
Homecoming festivities wrap-up Friday after the football game with the “Dancing in the Moonlight” themed Homecoming Dance.
