Varsity soccer splits on road

The De Soto boys varsity soccer team opened it season with a 3-0 road win Aug. 28 at Basehor-Linwood.

Octavio Villa, Jordan Riffel and Greg Henning scored goals for the Wildcats. Villa, Brett Hevel and Duncan Henderson each had assists in the match.

De Soto traveled to Lansing Tuesday night and lost 1-0. Next up for the Wildcats (1-1) is a home match against Louisburg Thursday in De Soto.

JV soccer ties, wins

The De Soto boys junior varsity squad team also opened its season against Basehor-Linwood last week and played to a 2-2 tie. De Soto also played Tuesday night at Lansing and won 3-0.

DHS pep rally Sept. 9.

De Soto High School will have a pep rally at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at Sonic in De Soto. The community is invited to attend and athletes from the Kansas University football are also scheduled to be in attendance.

DHS football pizza party Sept. 11

The De Soto High school football team will have a pizza party for players and parents following De Soto’s first home game against Eudora Sept. 11. The pizza party will take place in the commons area at the high school.
