Awards recognize students, schools work to save the earth
The United State Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 is accepting applications for the 2009 President's Environmental Youth Awards.
The awards recognizes individuals, school classes and youth organizations for protecting the earth.
The program is open to students in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
The program awards for two components. The regional certificates are awarded by each of the regional offices of the EPA. Each regional office selects one first-place project as a regional award winner. The sponsor and winner of the regional award travel to Washington D.C. to receive their award.
In the past, projects have included recycling programs, construction of nature preserves, tree planting programs and newsletter, videos or skits focused on environmental issues.
