DHS softball, baseball teams advance
May 18, 2009
The De Soto softball and baseball teams both advanced to the second-round of regionals Monday night.
The softball team shutout Piper 3-0 at Eudora behind another stellar pitching performance from Katie Williams. Williams pitched seven innings and struck out 10 batters while only allowing three hits.
Williams also singled and scored two runs. Kelsie Gower had two hits and two RBIs in the contest. The softball team will play Bishop Ward at 4:45 Tuesday at Eudora. Should De Soto win, it would play in the final against the winner of Baehor-Linwood and Eudora.
The baseball team got a 4-2 road win at Jeff-West. De Soto will play the winner of Ottawa and Santa Fe Trail at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tonganoxie. Should the Wildcats win, they will play for a chance for the state tournament at 7 p.m.

Point of View
Do you think Republican Sam Brownback will be the next governor of Kansas?
I think Brownback is a sure thing, unless something changes drastically.
