Johnson County included in severe thunderstorm warning, tornado watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Johnson County until 5:15 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe storm capable of producing hail at 4:45 p.m. near De Soto and moving east at 45 mph. Johnson County, along with a handful of other northeast Kansas counties, is part of a tornado watch the National Weather Service issued just before 1 p.m. Friday.

The watch also is for Atchison, Doniphan, Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties until 8 p.m.
