De Soto’s varsity baseball and softball games against Eudora originally scheduled for Tuesday have been moved to Monday at the 3 and 2 Sports Complex
De Soto Board names interim superintendent

The De Soto Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of interim superintendent, Ron Wimmer, at a special meeting Thursday. Wimmer will take over full responsibility of the district effective Monday.

This morning, Kansas Department of Health and Environment officials said 12 cases of the 2009 H1N1 influenza A virus, or swine flu, have been confirmed in the state.

The Kansas Department of Transportation said that about 11 a.m. today, all lanes of southbound Interstate 35 were closed at 175th Street in southern Johnson County after a major traffic accident.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver and Eudora native makes his way to the mound while waving to the crowd. Then, he deftly delivers to the plate and the crowd cheered politely, never the wiser that he was worried about pitch location.
