Construction to reduce lanes on stretch of K-7

May 1, 2009

— Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, northbound and southbound Kansas Highway 7 will be reduced to one lane each direction for a construction project at K-7 and Clear Creek Parkway in Johnson County.

The project will be completed in two phases. Phase One includes the new roadway construction of Hedge Lane Terrace, from Clear Creek Parkway north; and Phase Two includes the installation of traffic signals and rebuilding of the median at the intersection of Clear Creek Parkway and K-7. This project is in preparation for the new interchange project at K-7 and 55th Street/Johnson Drive, which is tentatively scheduled to begin construction in late 2009.

Northbound and southbound K-7 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 55th Street/Johnson Drive and Shawnee Mission Parkway until late June 2009. The speed limit will be restricted to 50 mph through the project work zone. Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.

Miles Excavating Inc. is the primary contractor on this $1.1 million construction project. Scheduled completion date for the entire project is late September 2009.
