Under the leadership of past chamber President Dave Moore, the chamber’s musical tradition morphed into what proved to be a popular blues and barbecue fundraiser and was opened up to the entire community.

- The De Soto United Methodist Church had its confirmation service Sunday. Recognized were two boys who are active in school and the community. Jeremy Slitor, who will be in the seventh grade next year at Lexington Trails Middle School, is the son of Tim and Stephanie Slitor and grandson of Anita Harris. He plays football , baseball and wrestles. He is also a weight lifter, in the Boy Scouts, the church’s youth group and is close to his brother and sister. Joshua Miller, son of Charles and Becky Miller, will also be a seventh-grader at LTMS. He likes to play video games, baseball, football and wrestle. He is active in youth groups and the grandson of Bill Brown.
