The schedule of events is consistent from year to year, there is generally about 20 fundraising teams and a cadre of volunteers make the night happen with the help of a reoccurring cast of corporate sponsors.

De Soto and surrounding water districts have applied for a Kansas Department of Health and Environment grant that would provide half the funding for a $25,000 study into the feasibility of joining in a wholesale water district that makes use of the Sunflower water plant.
