City came through on Fourth
This is a letter that I felt compelled to write after the city of De Soto’s Fourth of July celebration. First and foremost, I was elated, to say the least.
I have lived in De Soto for 19 years and always attended fireworks shows when they were at Miller Park. But when the show was moved the school district stadium and after I went to one, I started attending the show at Shawnee Mission Park. With news the show would be at Riverfest Park, my wife and I decided to go and we are glad we did.
The city should be proud; it was great. The vendors and music were good, but most importantly the community spirit was great at a time when we needed a special Fourth.
De Soto came through. I am a weather watcher for De Soto for Channel 9, and I try to keep De Soto on the map as a lot of people don’t realize where we are. But if we keep doing the Fourth of July like we did, people will come to the community and maybe like our town and move here.
Again I would like to give thanks to Mayor Dave Anderson, the city council and especially all the city workers who assisted at the Riverfest event and the clean up.
