Wildcats split with Panthers

Brendon Hudson scored 18 points and hit five three-pointers to lead De Soto to a 47-35 league-opening win over Paola Friday night at De Soto.

De Soto (6-1) trailed midway through the fourth but retook the lead on a rebound and putback by Jamel Townsend and never looked back. Townsend scored 11 and Tommy Elmer added six for the Wildcats. De Soto will play Tuesday at St. James. For the full story, read Thursday's De Soto Explorer.

The De Soto girls hit three three-pointers to start the game but after that the Wildcats went ice cold and lost 62-38 to Paola Friday night at De Soto. Shelbi Petty and Kelsey Fisher scored 14 a piece to lead the Wildcats (2-4). De Soto will play Tuesday at St. James.
