Blazers sweep Cats

Jamel Townsend goes up strong against two Gardner defenders Friday at De Soto. Townsend scored 9 points in the game, but Gardner used a 36-point second half to come from behind and beat the Wildcats, 49-46.

Brandan Philbrook scored 14 points and Brendon Hudson added 13 for De Soto, but the Wildcats were outscored by 14 in the second half, and Gardner won 49-46 Friday at De Soto.

De Soto led by 11 at the half, and by three at the end of the third quarter. But Gardner outscored De Soto 18-11 in the final period to win the game.

Seniors Jamel Townsend added nine points and Tommy Elmer added four points.

Next up for De Soto (12-6, 3-3) is Anderson County Monday at De Soto.

GIRLS

Kelsey Fisher scored nine points to lead De Soto, but the Wildcats were overmatched by Gardner and lost, 55-19, Friday night at De Soto.

Next up for the Wildcats (3-15, 0-6) is a home contest with Anderson County on Monday.
