De Soto boys win, girls lose to Spring Hill

A tough shooting night for the De Soto girls basketball team led to a 50-28 Wildcat loss to Spring Hill Friday night at DeSoto.

Only Shelbi Petty reached double-figures for the Wildcats as she scored 11 points, all of which came in the second half. Katie Williams and Kelsey Fisher tallied five and six, respectively for De Soto.

The Wildcats play Baldwin Tuesday at Baldwin.

De Soto boys

With a height and power advantage on its side, the De Soto boys cruised past Spring Hill Friday, 66-42.

Jamel Townsend dominated the interior, scoring 17 points from inside the paint. Freshman Mason Wedel came off the bench at the guard spot and had a stellar night of his own, tallying 20 points after shooting 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Sophomore Aaron Nutterfield scored 10 and had three blocked shots.

The Wildcats (11-4) travel to Atchison Wednesday.
