Several Wildcats named to All-League football team

Numerous De Soto Wildcat football players have been selected to the All-League team.

First team selections were Dylan Burford, kick returner; Second-team selections were Dylan Burford, running back and defensive back; Logan Clark, linebacker, Daniel Davis, defensive line.

Honorable mention selections were Lyle Logan, offensive line; Daniel Davis offensive line; Lyle Logan, defensive line; Joseph Seidl, defensive line; Jon Hastings, linebacker; Gabe Hamilton, linebacker; Jeff Bowen, defensive back.

All-Area football team announced

Two De Soto Wildcats have been selected to the Lawrence Journal-World’s All-Area football team.

Seniors Dylan Burford and Lyle Logan were honorable mention selections.

Cross country runners named to All-Area team

Several De Soto runners have been named to the Lawrence Journal-World’s All-Area cross country team.

For the boys, freshman angel Vasquez was a first-team selection, and Austin Hinchey and Ry Patton were named honorable mention.

For the girls, Lacey Erickson was named to the first-team and Beth Reichenberger and Ellie Sheridan were named honorable mention.

Nine Wildcats named to All-Area soccer team

Several De Soto Wildcats were named to the Lawrence-Journal World’s All-Area soccer team.

First-team selections were Duncan Henderson, Sammy Seibolt and Tyler Buffkin.

Honorable mention honors went to Octavio Villa, Jordan Slater, Jordan Riffel, Brett Hevel, Alex Henning and John Williams.

Three Cat girls named to All-Area volleyball team

Three De Soto volleyball players have been selected to the Lawrence Journal-World’s All-Area volleyball team.

Senior Tami Crow was a first-team selection, and Becca Maasen and Katie Gorman were honorable mention selections.

Four Wildcats named to All-State soccer team

The De Soto Wildcats have four players on the Class 4A All-State soccer team. First-team selections are Sammy Seibolt, Duncan Henderson, and Tyler Buffkin. Octavio Villa made second-team.

JV boys top Eagles in opener

The De Soto boys junior varsity basketball team beat Maranatha 63-23 Thursday in De Soto in the Wildcats’ season opener.

The Wildcats will look for their second win of the season Tuesday at Baldwin.
