Nightly entertainment set for Riverfest Park stage
With entertainment for the three-day festival including everything from live bands such as Liverpool: A Tribute to the Beatles, to unique shows such as the Kaw
Prairie Community Church performance, everyone should be entertained.
Ron Crow Jr., entertainment chair for the festival, began working to book entertainment shortly after last year's festival ended.
“I’ve been working hard the last month to get everything finalized,” Crow said.
Among the last-minute plans was the entertainment choice for Thursday night.
Crow originally planned to have karaoke with DJ Dave, but he has also worked to have a live band perform.
“I’m not sure yet what will happen,” he said. “We had planned on karaoke but then talked to a band.”
Crow said the possible Thursday bands include the De Soto High School Jazz Band or a blues-type band.
The musical choices Friday span a broad spectrum of tastes.
Crow Canyon, a country western band, hits the stage at 6 p.m. Two members of the band will then perform with The Secrets, a Rock & Roll band, Crow said.
On Saturday, festival attendees will be treated to an entire day of entertainment, starting with the Kaw Prairie Church band at 12:30 p.m. and followed by the Kaw Valley Community Choir at 1 p.m.
LuLuBell Balloon Art will be available all day for children.
The Kansas River Gang will put on performances at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
“This is Kansas River Gang’s sixth year at the festival,” Crow Jr., said. “They put on gun fighting shows and three to four skits each show.”
Saturday night wraps up with a performance by Liverpool: A Tribute to the Beatles.
“I saw them at the Sprint Campus last year and have been working ever since to get them down here,” he said.
Liverpool takes the Riverfest Park stage at 9 p.m. and will perform a variety of songs from the Beatles.
