Changes to greet returning students

tudents returning to De Soto USD 232 classrooms next week will find all is not the same at district schools. Fifth-graders at Starside Elementary will have a new home, and students at Lexington Trails Middle School will notice a secured entrance.
Council gives nod to incentive request

Targeted industry study update starts Saturday

The public is invited to be part of an effort to identify the types of businesses and industries De Soto should recruit. Sara Ritter, executive director of the De Soto Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council, said there would a workshop for an update of De Soto targeted industry study from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at De Soto City Hall. The update is funded by the EDC.

The De Soto United Methodist Church Women is still seeking volunteers to help with the bierock workday for the De Soto Days Festival. The workday will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church’s Fellowship Hall. There will be a potluck lunch. The money raised will support missions and other church activities.

Zacharias promoted to county manager
August 13, 2009
ohnson County Commissioners stayed in-house in naming a new county manager. It was announced Thursday, Hannes Zacharias would be promoted from deputy county manager to the top spot. He will start his new duties Sept. 1. Zacharias succeeds Mike Press, who retired in May.
District prepares for possible H1N1 outbreak
