Robert Haynes, the man who returned long-term care to De Soto, died last week at the age of 54. The owner of Hillside Village Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facility died April 22 at a gym near his Lenexa home.

The De Soto United Methodist Church is having a crock pot supper in support of its vacation Bible school from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fellowship Hall. Soup choices will be chicken and wild rice, vegetable, potato, chicken noodle, and broccoli and cheese. Also available will be salads, bread, desserts and drinks, all for a donation of $6 for adults and $3 for those younger than 13 years of age.
Zoellner resigns at special board meeting

De Soto USD 232 Board of Education has begun picking up the pieces after last week’s resignation of Superintendent Sharon Zoellner. During a special meeting Friday morning, the board accepted Zoellner’s resignation. Hours later, Louisburg USD 416 announced it had hired Zoellner as its superintendent.
