Konetzni places 3rd, Edwards 6th in Topeka

The De Soto boys tennis season got underway Tuesday at the Washburn Rural Invitational in Topeka. Junior Andrew Konetzni finished in third-place in singles play. Konetzni went 3-1 on the day.
Senior Matt Edwards finished sixth in singles play after going 2-2 at the event. Edwards was slowed late in the day after sustaining a muscle injury to his ribs.
De Soto’s No. 1 doubles team of Brendon Hudson and Trevor Elmer went 2-2 and finished seventh. The team beat a team from Highland Park to open the day before losing to Olathe East and Hutchinson. The boys then beat Gardner, 8-2, to finish the day.
Mitch Childers and Joe Dvorak went 1-3 at the tournament and placed eighth.
Next up for the Wildcats is the Topeka-Highland Park Quad Monday in Topeka.
