Break-in under investigation
Staff at Starside Elementary returned to work Monday to discover the school had been broken into over the weekend.
According to a news release, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department responded to the school, treating some areas as crime scenes. Students were kept from certain areas of the building to accommodate the investigation.
It was determined that several items were stolen from the school, according to the release.
An estimated dollar amount in theft and damages has not yet been determined.
Starside principal Jessica Dain told students about the incident and assured them the building was safe, the release stated.
The investigation is being handled by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
