Willow Springs F.C.E. meeting
The Willow Springs F.C.E. met at Sept. 12 at the Fellowship Hall of the De Soto Baptist Church.
Leona Robinson was hostess and the tables were decorated with a fall theme of floral arrangements. The plates and napkins were decorated with a watermelon theme.
Dorothy Nalley gave the table grace before the lunch and later opened the meeting with the minutes of the June meeting.
President Reta Jenks said there was some discussion of changing the meeting date for the third Thursday of the month because some members had difficulty attending on that date. We voted to move the meetings to the second Thursday of the month. Leona Robinson gave the treasurer's report and noted donations given to the circle.
Dorothy gave a quiz with national answers and members go most of the questions right. She also gave the lesson, "Keep Kids Safe on the Internet," which brought responses from the members.
The roll call was answered by recalling a Halloween trick.
Johnson County Extension is having its fall event starting at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Extension office in Olathe. Every club will have a table with new and used children's books. After the display, the books will be donated to children's organizations. If anyone would like to donate a book, we will gladly accept it through Oct. 15.
The KAFCE conference will be Oct. 13 through 15 in Hays.
Leona Robinson gave members a spice candle. Jean Epperson won the "pig" Dorothy brought. It was a pumpkin floral holder.
Loretta Nichols will be the hostess of the October meeting. Dues need to be paid by Oct. 1.
